Keeping a simple record

Organize observations without trying to diagnose a change.

Use a format you can keep

A short dated entry can be enough to record an observation. Use a private notebook or another place you control. Record what you actually notice rather than trying to explain a cause.

Keep comparisons consistent

Lighting, styling, and camera angle can change how hair looks in photographs. If you compare pictures, keep these conditions similar. A picture alone cannot establish a diagnosis or tell you which treatment is appropriate.

Use the record as context

Bring useful observations to your appointment. A record should support a conversation, not replace professional assessment. If recording becomes stressful or unhelpful, discuss that with your clinician as well.
